The Chocoholics series has gotten a make-over!!!  AAAAAAAND, Baking and Babies (Chocoholics #3) is coming on October 30th!! I’ve been hard at work (and losing my mind just a little) on this book and I’m so excited for you guys to read it!

Add it to Goodreads

Pre-order on Amazon

Pre-order links for the other retailers should be up soon, so make sure you’re following me on social media. I’ll be posting them on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter as soon as I have them.

Baking and Babies (Chocoholics #3) Full Summary:

“I’m pregnant.”

Molly Gilmore had a good life before she uttered those two stupid words. While preparing to graduate from culinary school and building up the courage to make a move on her hot, sugar-cookie-smelling pastry instructor Marco, she can’t wait to finally have the GREAT life she’s always dreamed about, instead of just the good one she’s been living.

Always known as the quiet ninja, she fully intends to stay hidden in the shadows with her nut-job family, so they have no chance to embarrass her around the man she’s crushed on for two years. Unfortunately, her family has other plans. When they yank her straight out of her comfort zone, she finds herself starring in the craziest train wreck she’s ever witnessed.

Molly ultimately gets a more exciting life that doesn’t revolve around school, but she’s pretty sure the man of her dreams won’t be sticking around long after her family gets ahold of him. There aren’t too many guys who can handle smelling like pee, having the whole world know how he masturbates, and being forced to eat an entire bag of dicks.

Join the Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics gang for one final story about love, baked goods, making poor life choices, and remembering how important family is—even if they drive you insane.

Mostly because it’s illegal to kill them.

Tara Sivec’s New Release is Here!

Bury Me is here!  I don’t want to it’s the best book I’ve ever written, because I don’t like patting myself on the back about anything I do, but I will say I am very proud of this book. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m so glad I wrote it and got all this crazy out of my head after two years of thinking about it. It’s very different than anything I’ve ever written and I hope you guys love it as much as I do!

Upcoming New Release from Tara Sivec!

Happy July everyone! I’ve got something new coming on August 11th that I’m so excited about I almost can’t stand it. I’m even starting to annoy myself with how excited I am, it’s THAT bad.

You might have noticed that I kind of like to hop around in different genres. So far I’ve done Romantic Comedy, Romantic Suspense, Erotic Romantic Suspense, Romantic Mystery/Comedy, Contemporary Romance and now I have an upcoming release on August 11th titled “Bury Me” that is a *drumroll please*……

Psychological Thriller!

I know, crazy.  Literally. I completely understand if you want to throw things at your screen or bang your head against a wall because I sort of pushed a couple other books I’m supposed to be writing back a bit to write this one. I swear I’m not doing it to torture you. I only get a thrill out of torturing my husband, believe me. The ONLY way I know how to write, is to listen to the voices in my head and the story that speaks to me when I sit down at my computer. If I try to write something I’m not feeling at the moment, it will just suck, and no one wants to read something that sucks. At least I hope not.

Before I start to bore you to death with how crazy my head is, how about I show you the cover first and then you can find out more about how this book came to be a little further down in this month’s Q&A? Sound good?  Great!

I am so in love with the cover I sort of want to marry it. Or at the very least, wallpaper my entire house with it.

And the back cover:

Back Cover

Full Summary:

I hear screams in my head.
I see blood on my hands.
When I look in the mirror I see a stranger.

How is it that I can remember bits and pieces of my life, but nothing of any importance and nothing that makes any sense? Everything is twisted and nothing is right. I’m choking with every breath I take, suffocating on the unknown.

Two days ago, everything changed. Two days ago, the people I should trust the most became strangers in my convoluted head. The dreams I have can’t be real. The fleeting memories that whisper through my mind are scary and wrong…they have to be. If they aren’t, I have something much worse to fear than my fractured mind. I need to find out the truth, even if it destroys me.

I’ve been told my name is Ravenna Duskin. I’m eighteen years old and I live in a prison…

And now, a few answers to some recent reader questions:

1. “Why do some of your books say Tara and some say T.E.?” – Marie
The first two books I published were romantic comedy. When I decided to write a romantic suspense for my third book, I wanted a way to clearly differentiate between the two very different genres so no one got a few chapters in and was like “Um, this isn’t funny AT ALL.”  As an indie author, a lot of things we do are trial and error as we learn what we’re doing in this business. This pretty much turned into an error and just made things more difficult for me on the business side of things that I won’t explain because it will put you to sleep. Unfortunately, this one book turned into four so I continued publishing those books under T.E. Sivec just to keep them uniform. And then I pretty much killed off T.E. Sivec forever 🙂

2. “Do the story ideas just pop into your mind or a character that you build around?” – Kristin
100% story ideas pop into my head. And then I drive you all crazy when I push other books aside to write that idea instead because I can’t stop thinking about it 🙂

3. “What gave you the idea for Bury me?” – Michelle
I actually first had this idea two years ago. I didn’t feel like I was strong enough as a writer at the time to tackle it, so I took some notes and pushed it aside. For the next two years, I continued to take more notes in between projects, change things around, write a paragraph or two, change it all around again, more notes, etc. etc. etc. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, but something just wasn’t clicking enough for me to actually sit down and write the entire thing. About a month ago, I went on a private tour of the Ohio State Reformatory (if you’ve seen the movie Shawshank Redemption, it was filmed there). Within five minutes of being inside that place, EVERYTHING about this story just clicked. For the entire 2 1/2 hour tour I couldn’t shut up about it, whispering non-stop to my husband so much that I’m sure he wanted to lock me in one of the cells. As soon as we got home that day, I started writing and didn’t stop for 2 weeks.

Thanks for the awesome questions, folks!

One last thing before I go. I thought I’d share some new releases and sales for a few of my author friends to tide you over until August 11th 🙂

Seduction and Snacks is 3 years old!

Three years ago this week, I published my first book – Seduction and Snacks. It was rejected by 35 publishers/editors for being too “crazy” and “not realistic”, even though 95% of the book is all true things that happened in my crazy life with my crazy kids, family and friends.

I took a chance after the rejections and self-published the book on Amazon. Through social media and word of mouth, you took a chance on this “crazy” and “unrealistic” book and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of YOU, I’m doing what I was always meant to – tell stories and put the voices in my head into books. Because of YOU and how awesomely you embraced the crazy, Seduction and Snacks has been translated in 7 different countries and it still remains my most popular, best selling book to this day.

I’ve received so many amazing gifts from readers that I have an entire book case dedicated just to Seduction and Snacks presents!

Thank you for loving the crazy and thank you for continuing on this journey with me. Long live inappropriate, crazy books! In honor of the 3 year anniversary, I’m giving away 3 signed copies of Seduction and Snacks to newsletter subscribers!

Hello, everyone!  Worth the Trip (A Fisher’s Light Companion Novella) is now LIVE and it’s only 99 pennies!!!  I’m still waiting for iBooks, but you can get it everywhere else for now. As you can see by the title, Worth the Trip is a companion novella to Fisher’s Light and should only be read AFTER you’ve finished Fisher’s Light.

As you might have seen, I’m giving away a $25 Amazon gift card to one lucky newsletter subscriber every month!  Newsletter

The winner for April is….JENN MOONEY!  Congratulations, Jenn and thank you to all the subscribers!

Okay, on to something fun. I’ve received a few reader questions recently so I thought I’d answer some of them now.

1. What is your favorite part of writing? What is the part you loathe during the writing process? – Valerie
My favorite part of writing is when I hit “that moment”. The one where everything just comes together and it’s all I can do to type as fast as the thoughts in my mind. It usually takes me about 10 chapters or so to get to this point, to start living and breathing the story and for the characters to become real people in my mind. The part I loathe the most is writing a summary or blurb. I hate it! I put it off until the last possible second!  Trying to sum up your entire story in a few sentences is the worst torture ever! I would rather write 15 books than one little blurb!

2. How do you pick the character’s names? – Jade
Baby naming websites LOL!  For my main hero and heroine, always baby naming websites! For the secondary characters, they are almost always people I know or have met in real life.

3. When you’re writing, do you listen to music or have to have background noise, or do you need complete silence? – Christina
Usually, I need complete silence. I will make a playlist before I write the book and use that for inspiration while I’m plotting the story, but when I sit down to write, music is too distracting for me. Unless I’m writing sex scenes! Sex scenes always need a little mood music and the one song that is always on repeat during those scenes is Bloodstream by Stateless. Just thinking about that song makes me want to go and write a sex scene! I have a “Bangin'” playlist on Spotify that makes me all warm and tingly:
My Superman by Santigold
Closer by Nine Inch Nails
Boiling Point by Au Revoir Simone

4. What’s your favorite TV show – Marie
My husband and I have become addicted to Last Man on Earth. It’s new on Fox on Sunday nights and it’s sad how giddy we get on Sunday nights!

5. What were your kids first words? – Julianne
Sadly, nothing exciting! They both said mom first. Now, first swear word? Those are much better. My daughter called my mom a bitch at Thanksgiving dinner because she wouldn’t give her another dinner roll. And my son dropped the F bomb. But not on purpose. Whenever he said the word fork…well, you can only imagine. And clearly we made him ask for a fork whenever we could just so we could laugh like idiots. #parentingwin

And that’s it for reader questions! If you ever have any of your own, feel free to send them to me!

Coming Soon From Tara Sivec!

I’m just going to take a moment here and bore you with something – my brain. It’s a very, very crazy place to live. I have a writing schedule of about 6 books I need to get out this year and instead of focusing on those, I go off and write something completely new, like Fisher’s Light. I know some people are waiting for more Chocolate Lovers and others are waiting for the 3rd and final book in the Ignite Trilogy and still others are keeping their fingers crossed for the first book in the CageVec Security series and I just want to apologize now if they don’t come out as quickly as I hoped. They’re still coming, I PROMISE!

It’s not that I don’t WANT to write the other books I need to get busy on, it’s not that I don’t LOVE those books and and want to bring their stories to life, it’s that I have a crazy brain. Even though I know I have a book (or several books) that I need to finish before I start something new, my brain just doesn’t work that way. If an idea comes to me, I have to get it out or I’ll go even more insane than I already am 😉  Fisher’s Light came to me in a dream and I became completely obsessed with the story of Lucy and Fisher. I stopped everything I was working on just to get it out of my head. It was and still is a standalone book. It will not be a series. So, why, you ask am I now working on something called Worth the Trip???

This is NOT a continuation of Fisher’s Light. You will still need to read Fisher’s Light before you read Worth the Trip, but I repeat, it is not a continuation. It is fully titled “Worth the Trip (A Fisher’s Light Companion Novella). Let’s call it a prequel novella. If you’ve read Fisher’s Light, you were introduced to Trip Fisher, one of my favorite characters I’ve ever written. As I wrote Fisher’s Light, Trip became a real person to me. A real man with a past and regrets and things he wants to fix before he dies. I became obsessed with Trip and his entire life flashed before my eyes. This book is about Trip’s life. You’ll find out how he met and fell in love with his wife and how the choices he made shaped him into the 83 year old man you met in Fisher’s Light.

I have to write what speaks to me. I need to have passion for what I’m working on or it will show in my writing. Right now, I am incredibly passionate about Trip Fisher. I love you all so much for going on the Fisher’s Light journey with me and I hope you’ll follow me with Trip’s story!

Worth the Trip will be out on May 4th.  You can add it to Goodreads here:

Fisher’s Journal

At the end of a long, dark hallway, there’s a door. It’s the same average, everyday wooden door that can be found in almost every house, condo or apartment anywhere in the world. Just looking at this door, there’s nothing special about it. Made of oak, it has a few nicks and scratches from years of wear and tear, it creaks when you open it and sticks when it’s humid outside and the wood expands. Locked away behind the door, though, is the shit no one wants to know about. The memories, the nightmares and all the reasons my life is a fucked up mess lie just inside that door in a pile of regret. I lost everything because of that damn door, because my mind splintered into a thousand pieces and I couldn’t tell the difference between dreams and reality. I became a different man.

A dangerous man.

A suicidal man.

Some days, I think of that door as a barrier between me and the dark corners of my subconscious, a place to stockpile the skeletons of my past so that I don’t have to look at them or think about them. Other days, that door busts wide open and I am forced to relive every mistake I’ve made. I can walk into the room, sweat running down my back, and run my hands over every item that carved me into the man I’ve become. I can dig through the shoebox on the end of the bed and run the tips of my fingers over each letter she sent me, I can pick up the Purple Heart from the top of the dresser and feel the cold weight of the bronze medal and the satin purple ribbon in the palm of my hand, and I can lift the backpack off the floor in the corner of the room and smell the heat from the desert and the metallic hint of dried blood splattered on the camouflage design.

It’s not long before the sounds of war fill my ears and only seconds until I’m clutching my head with shaking hands and a pounding heart, trying to determine the source of the most tormented, heartbroken noises I’ve ever heard, the crying and the begging so loud that they can be heard even over the gunfire. It’s only when I realize that the horrified screams are coming from me, that I’m the one pleading for mercy, that I slam shut that door in my mind, begging anyone that’ll listen to take away the grief and the pain so that I never go back inside that room.

This is where my story begins.

Or ends.

I can never really decide.

The mind is a great and powerful thing, bisected with hallways of darkness and corners of light. Memories can alternately fill your life with joy and happiness and cloud every moment with nightmares and fear, making you second-guess all of the good things and wonder if they were ever real. Was I happy? Did I ever smile and laugh easily without a care in the world? How do I get that back when the darkness is hell bent on taking over, holding me in its clutches and making sure I never see the sunshine again?

I’m going to figure it out even if it kills me. I’m going to piece together the fractures in my mind and I will take back what’s mine. I don’t blame her for walking away; I shoved her out the door and told her to go. I should have realized that she was my light. She was everything bright and beautiful about my life and it went to shit after she left.

I’m going to fix this. I have to fix this. I hate being in this place filled with people who think they know everything about me. I hate every moment that I’m away from her, but I will do whatever it takes to find the man she once loved and bring him back to her.

I’m going to kick down that fucking door at the end of the long, dark hallway and show everyone that I deserve the light.
